NRA Personal Protection In The Home

This course is designed to teach the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense.
Prerequisite: This course is for law-abiding adult citizens, and experienced shooters (shooters able to show basic skills of safe gun handling, and shooting a group). Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes by producing an NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, military DD 214 with pistol qualification, or passing the Pre-Course Assessment as offered by the NRA certified instructor.
Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill develop.

My goal was to become comfortable and competent with my pistol. This course (content, materials, and instructor delivery) far exceeded my expectation. When it came time for the novice on the range, the instructor did a fantastic job of personalizing each shooter’s experience with specific and actionable feedback. I am a more capable pistol owner because of this class. What I really learned however, is that this is not just a one and done course; I have now willfully ventured into a lifetime of practice and continual improvement!
The class was okay, we learned a little, but no range time for the same day, very disappointing.
